Ordered Chaos, One Line at a Time

Artist Statement

My name is Eden Oratile Lebone Storom. I make geometric patterns by weaving acrylic yarn around wood and canvas boards. Since January 2024, my practice has centred on geometric fibre art, hand-woven textile works that translate mathematical structure into material form. Each piece begins with a grid, and ends somewhere less predictable, shaped by the behaviour of thread, tension, and time.

I’ve always been drawn to geometric abstraction because of its hypnotic nature. I find it soothing to let my eye travel along lines, angles, transitions and intervals while my mind settles into a quiet calm. My practice carries many dualities: emotion and logic; intuition and intention; order and chaos.
